The Radio Renascença Group is made up of three radios:

Radio Renascença (R R), a general-interest radio (music, news, entertainment and culture, specific religious programmes), has a nation-wide coverage. It started to transmit on 1st January 1937 and from 1978 until 2003 it was the most listened radio in Portugal. Today it ranks second, but is still the most listened by Portuguese people over 45. Broadcasting is made 24 hours a day by 24 transmitters in frequency modulation and 13 transmitters in amplitude modulation on middle waves (see transmitters map attached). It transmits also through satellite (Intelsat) to Europe, Atlantic Islands ( Azores, Madeira), Africa (Cape Verde Islands, Guinea, Angola, Mozambique), Near East and Timor, as well as on the Web in MP3 format on www.rr.pt

RFM has a nation-wide coverage. Established on 1st January 1987 it is a music radio, with brief news, aimed at 25-45 years old middle- andupper-class people. It is the most listened radio in Portugal and is broadcast 24 hours a day in frequency modulation by 20 transmitters (see transmitters map attached). It can be listened to on the Web in MP3 format on www.rfm.pt

MEGA FM is a music radio aimed at young people living in the Lisbon, Coimbra and Porto areas. It started to transmit on 7 September 1998 and is first-ranking with 15-25 years listeners in the Lisbon area. It is broadcast 24 hours a day by 3 transmitters in frequency modulation.
The nation-wide listening figure of these 3 radios is over 26% of the market (in "accumulated evening audience"), i.e. over twice the figures of the next-ranking operator. RFM hits a 15% rating, and Radio Renascença 10,5%.
The Group is owned by the Lisbon Patriarchate (60%) and the Portuguese Episcopal Conference (40%). These commercial radios derive most of their revenues from advertising and from the subscriptions of several ten thousands of members of the Radio Renascença Friends' Association.
The annual operating budget is about 21 million � The staff is made up of 280 permanent employees and 70 occasional contributors.
