Radio Lumen received its first broadcasting licence on 5 June 1992 et started broadcasting on 7 April 1993 from Banska Bystrica, where the radio's head office is still situated. From September 1997 Radio Lumen transmits 24 hours a day in frequency modulation through 27 transmitters covering 80% of the slovakian territory ( i.e. 4 million inhabitants).
Radio Lumen has an operating budget of about 1,000,000 € and 30 permanent employees together with 42 occasional contributors.
